Air alert map of Poland — how to use the service

AlertyPL is an interactive map that shows, in one place, the current status of air alerts and civil defence warnings for all 16 voivodeships (regions) in Poland. The service was created so that residents of Poland, Ukrainians living in the country and travellers can quickly check — without signing in — whether an alert has been announced in a given region. Below we explain how the map works, where the data comes from and how to act in an emergency.

How does the alert map work?

The map divides the territory of Poland into voivodeships. Each region is assigned a colour that reflects its current status. Data is refreshed automatically, so the picture on the map reflects the most up-to-date information available. To see details — status, start time and information source — simply tap the region you are interested in. The service works in the browser on desktop and mobile, and a mobile app with push notifications is also available.

Data sources

The information shown on the map is based on publicly available and official sources related to safety and the public warning system in Poland. Transparency matters to us — that is why we describe a detailed list of the sources we use on a dedicated page and in the About us section. When data from different sources is inconsistent, we try to display the more cautious (precautionary) information on the map.

How to interpret an alert? What the statuses mean

The map uses a clear legend. The colours mean the following:

  • Air alert — an active alarm signal or warning has been recorded for this voivodeship. Stay especially cautious and follow official announcements.
  • No alert information — no active alert is currently recorded for the region. This is not a guarantee of safety — always follow official announcements.

The status on the map is indicative and supplementary. Make decisions about your safety based on official alerts and instructions from local authorities.

What to do during an alert?

If an alert is announced, keep a few basic rules in mind:

  1. Stay calm and do not spread unverified information.
  2. Check official announcements from services and local authorities.
  3. If necessary, move to the nearest safe place or shelter.
  4. Keep a charged phone and a basic emergency kit at hand.
  5. Follow the instructions of emergency services and the warning system.

We publish more practical tips on our blog, and you will find answers to the most common questions in the FAQ section.

Please note: AlertyPL is an informational and supplementary service. It does not replace official warning systems. In an emergency, you must strictly follow the instructions of state services, local authorities and official alert systems.
